Cover letters
Your one-to-two page cover letter should help me understand the choices you’ve made as you progressed through the course, selected what writing to include in your portfolio, and revised individual pieces. I suggest you accomplish this with a simple two-to-three-paragraph structure:
- Paragraphs 1 & 2: A reflective summary (considering your papers, your in-class writing, the texts you’ve readings, and our discussions) of how your thoughts developed over the semester. This section of your cover letter should highlight a common theme or thread that runs through every entry in your portfolio.
- Last Paragraph: An explanation of your revision process. What should I look for as I read?
