Short Essay on Capitalism

Marx argues that capitalism is not merely a system that exchanges “use values”, i.e. it is not the simple C-M-C formula. Rather, capitalism is a system of that produces more wealth or “surplus value”. The general formula for capitalism is M-C-M¹, wherein M¹ is Money plus more Money, also known as surplus value.

What commodity is consumed in order to produce surplus value? Does a worker get paid what he/she is worth at the point of purchase, and then at the end of the work day or pay period. Explain.
